Grand Champion Market Goat
Carly, Mr Terry Burkes, ReagenOur girls had a FANTASTIC week at the 2008 Clark Couny Junior Livestock Show. It seems that the Alexander Sisters dominated the show. In all, the pair came away with seven new shiny belt buckles, a new set of clippers, a couple buckets, lots of ribbons, and a bit o' cash! Both girls earned first places in their showmanship classes, Reagen in goats and Carly in goats and sheep. Reagen earned the master showman in the junior division by showing all four species; steers, lambs, goats, and swine in Round Robin. She also earned a belt buckle in the fitting contest with one of her good friends, this being the second year in a row! It doesn't end there as she also placed in the Rate of Gain. Either she knows how to feed or her animals know how to EAT! Not letting her sister pass her by, Carly earned Grand Champion Goat with Reagen hot on her heels by earning Reserve Grand Champion Goat. We are so proud of our girls and the things they learn in 4-H. Their 4-H club, Just Chillin', also earned the herdsman award for sheep, and the best sheep educational display. They have a great 4-H leader, (although I may be a little prejudiced) Kristen Yardley... Thanks Queenie!
The guys were not going to stand for all the attention in the livestock barn and all roped well at the rodeo. Brad made Mom proud as he threw for the heels. I sure wished that his header had a little more luck. Justin and Ryan roped like pros with a 9.3 making it to the finals in the Sponsor Team Roping. Way To Rope Boys!
It was so fun to have Ann and Wayne back out for the fair. It has now been sixteen years that they have had a seat on the front row in the barn. We love to have them come, even if Grandpa insists on giving the judge from Kentucky, that he doesn't know, a business card! We wish they could come more often.
