2009 Clark County Fair

For a Boot Stompin' Good time...

Another Fair year under the belt. Please put your seatbelts on as this is a wild ride with lots of pictures. The Girls did excellent this year and we are so proud of them. In one of Carlys dinner prayers right before fair started she sent her love to Rick and said that this was his special time of year. It is always hard to be in the barn during pigs as they were his favorite. One of the ring men this year was even introduced as Rick until Scott Wade looked at me a realized he had made a mistake. He truely felt so bad but actually it made me feel good as I know that Scott remembers Rick and how much he loved the Livestock Show! Enough about that.

Reagen started the show with Lightweight lambs becoming the Lightweight Champion, qualifing her for the Grand Class. She really had some tough lambs to get past and did it very well.

Carly went to the ring next in Heavyweights. She did not win the class but took a very nice 2nd place which put her in the Grand Class with her sister. Carly ended the Grand Champion Drive bringing out another Purple Banner naming her lamb "CHARLIE" the 2009 Reserve grand Champion Lamb of the Clark County Junior Livestock Show. Next came goats. Carlys goat class was an exact repeat of her sheep class. 2009 Reserve Grand Champion Lamb

"WILLIE WONKA" was named the 2009 Reserve Grand Champion Goat.

Friday was the showmanship classes. Reagen had a great time in showmanship and placed 2nd in her tough class. This year was the start of a new rule in that the 1st and 2nd place winners of all the showmanship classes qualify for round Robin. Reagen was stoked! On to Carlys classes. Her Lamb class had to be the most intense class I have every seen. It was full of exhibitors that could make a rat look like a great lamb. The race was on! Carly worked her little heart out and walked out of the ring with a big smile and a 1st place blue ribbon. She did the same in her goat class.

Because Round Robbin now has twice as many exhibitors in it as before it took forever. The girls were a little nervous about having to lead a steer and each made some mental notes, thanks to the help of their cousin Rowdy Walch. I think Rowdy needed a talk with the BIG GUY after giving his lesson in showmanship.

It was a very good competition taking almost three hours! At the conclussion of the Round Robin, both Carly and Reagen had the priveledge of shaking the judges hand and accepting the 2009 Round Robin Championships. WOW... how can it get any better than this!

Another new thing that was done at the Livestock show this year, an award for the

2009 ALL AROUND GRAND CHAMPION

This includes the total scores from, Herdsmanship, Record Books, Showmanship, Market, Educational Displays, Livestock Judging, not an easy task.

I would like to introduce...

We all had a great time at the rodeo each nite.
